Swissbit’s approach to sustainability is based on ethical practices, environmental awareness and social responsibility and is closely linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We are aware that our commitment to the environment is not just a corporate responsibility, but a global necessity. Read more about this in our Corporate Social Responsibility Statement.

What is Swissbit doing to support the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations?

Sustainable consumption and production

The focus of the sustainability goal is on ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns. In this context, Swissbit is strengthening waste reduction and waste avoidance. Waste separation for improved recycling is important in this context.

  • Increase the waste separation rate from 96% to 98% in the period 2022 to 2023
  • Re-use of IT equipment
  • Conversion of all COB products to reusable molded film

Affordable and clean energy

This goal is about ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all. Swissbit is guided by this goal and promotes more efficient energy use and a reduction in energy consumption

  • Continuous decrease in total energy consumption since 2021 despite insourcing and additional production facilities; expectation: 2024 total energy consumption again lower than in the previous year
  • 2023 Successful switch from gas heating to heat pumps to drastically reduce the scope 1 emissions
  • Heat demand decreases continuously

Climate protection measures

The aim is to take immediate measures to combat climate change and its effects. Swissbit is aware of its responsibility and is continuously driving forward the reduction of CO2 emissions through various measures.

  • 2022 Construction of a solar plant that alone covers 10% of the total consumption of the Berlin site
  • Reduction of CO2 emissions through the purchase of green electricity
  • Plan for 2026 to CO2 emissions through the purchase of green nitrogen
  • Fulfillment of the customer requirement to reduce CO2 emissions in 2023 by 50% compared to 2019

Life on land

This Sustainable Development Goal aims to protect and restore terrestrial ecosystems and promote their sustainable use. The aim is to manage forests sustainably, combat desertification, end and reverse land degradation and put an end to biodiversity loss. Swissbit is aware of the importance of this sustainability goal.

  • Provision of electric charging stations
  • Operating our PCB cleaning equipment in a closed loop to reduce water consumption

What’s next for Swissbit?

Swissbit will continue to work continuously on reducing energy consumption at all levels of the company. A new environmental program for 2025 will significantly support and drive this forward.

We are currently driving forward a project to determine what are known as Scope 3 emissions. These help to divide greenhouse gas emissions into three categories, namely direct, indirect and purchased emissions in the value chain.

Another project is dedicated to determining the product carbon footprint for our products. Finally, we will initiate suitable measures with those responsible for Scope 3 emissions.

Swissbit’s fundamental goal is to achieve a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030 compared to 2019.
