Expansion to existing employees and wider set of use cases: The program expands from new to existing employees. To facilitate the higher volume of existing users, Okta admins can automate the pre-enrollment using APIs. With this update, participating organizations can establish wall-to-wall phishing resistance across a broader range of users to build a truly phishing-resistant enterprise.
Broader eligibility for customer participation: During Limited Early Access, the program could only accept a limited set of Okta customers who wished to participate. As we move into Early Access, more Okta customers are eligible.
Greater customer choice in YubiKey form factors: Customers can expand beyond using only the YubiKey 5 NFC and YubiKey 5C NFC to all NFC-enabled YubiKeys across the following lineups – YubiKey 5 Series, YubiKey 5 FIPS Series, and Security Key Series.
Global expansion across 72 countries: We are expanding the program’s scope from companies with employees across the US to US-headquartered companies with a footprint of employees across 72 countries worldwide.
With Yubico FIDO Pre-reg, enterprise users can experience secure passwordless access to their online accounts in minutes using the most secure form of passkey authentication while reducing the burden on their admins and users. Manual user registration is eliminated, as users receive security keys that are pre-registered with the organization’s Identity Provider (IdP) – such as Okta – by Yubico during production and shipped directly to the user, whether in corporate or residential locations.

By effectively enrolling the end user directly in the authentication platform—without reliance on the help desk or user to make security decisions—Yubico FIDO Pre-reg empowers enterprises to enhance cyber resiliency and halt phishing attacks on help desks throughout the user account lifecycle. This eliminates critical points where they may otherwise be exposed to hijack, such as onboarding, authentication, and account recovery.
With Yubico FIDO Pre-reg, users can get started on the most secure form of device-bound passkey authentication. The user follows two simple steps to log in without user registration, reducing time, labor, and cost burden for IT departments while accelerating security and productivity for employees.
